Description: The Rev. Joseph Ingle is one of America’s prominent critics of the death penalty. The two-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee is former director of the Southern Coalition on Jails and Prisons and founder of the Tennessee Committee against State Killing. Ingle’s work has taken him into Southern prisons and death rows. His book, “The Inferno: A Southern Morality Tale,”chronicles the story of Philip Workman, who was executed in Tennessee in 2007. The case gained attention because of serious doubts about Workman’s guilt. Ingle’s appearance is sponsored by the Turk Pre-Law Program and the Chaplain’s Office.
