Dr. Saunders earned a B.A. from Meredith College, an M.A.L.S. from Hollins College, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Tech. Most recently, she spent a year in postgraduate studies in African History at the University of Virginia.

Research & Teaching Interests:

Dr. Saunders' teaching fields include African History, World Civilization, and Environmental History. To enhance her research, Dr. Saunders has traveled extensively, and for example, has taken Roanoke College student groups to African countries numerous times for May term.
