Bio:

Dr. Daniel Sarabia joined the faculty at Roanoke College in the fall of 2004, shortly after he earned his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. His primary teaching and research interests are in the areas of environmental sociology, social movements, comparative and historical sociology, and social inequality. Dr. Sarabia currently serves as co-coordinator of the Latin American and Caribbean Studies concentration. He also participates in the interdisciplinary Environmental Program and is the current advisor to the College’s environmental student organization, Earthbound.

Dr. Sarabia's interest in social movements research led to the publication of a manuscript in Sociological Spectrum and a project underway that explores the transmission of group ideology by Mexican-American civil rights activists. He has presented his work at the professional meetings of the American Sociological Association and at regional conferences. Dr. Sarabia has served as a reviewer for Social Forces, Sociological Inquiry, Contemporary Sociology, and Sociological Spectrum. He is also currently the book review editor for Nature and Culture, an interdisciplinary journal based at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig, Germany.
