Important Information - On-Campus Employment Hiring Requirements for Students effective Fall 2018
Roanoke College sees opportunities for students to work on campus as an important step in your professional development. As such, it’s important for students to present an appropriate resume as a job candidate, regardless of the setting. Please be aware that all on-campus student job postings to be filled, starting fall 2018 or later, will require that student candidates have an acceptable resume posted on MaroonNet, BEFORE the student may be considered for employment. This will not affect students returning to jobs they currently hold on campus, only those hired in new positions that begin Fall 2018 or later. If you are planning to seek new campus jobs that will start with the opening of Fall Semester or later, you need to have your resume ready and posted in advance.
Career Services staff are available throughout the summer, in person or by phone/email, to help students in developing resumes, to provide tips on how to use MaroonNet to best present yourself as a candidate, and to help you learn how to best use MaroonNet overall in a job search. Career Services staff members are available M-F, 8am-4:30pm Eastern time. If you’d like to make an appointment, please let us know some days and time ranges that will work for you.
There is a very short (3-4 minute) instructional video, with an accompanying handout packet, on Resume Writing found at this link: https://www.roanoke.edu/inside/a-z_index/career_services/students/job_search. Scroll down to the header Job Search Skill Tips, and Resume Writing will be the first in the list. This video, however, does not include information on use of MaroonNet.
Don’t procrastinate! Plan now to take care of this important task.
