An introduction to the most important contemporarytheories of human communication. This course willexplore general issues concerning the nature oftheory and communication, the relation betweentheory and practice, and the influence of cultureand gender. Students will critically examine howthe communication process contributes to thedevelopment of information and meaning, selfhood,interpersonal relationships, social influence, andculture.
